Hi! I’m Jeanita,
Board Certified Family Nurse Practition & blogger
My name is pronounced as "Juh-nita", not Juanita like the Spanish origin and spelling. I am a law-abiding citizen, even though my last name is Outlaw. Nurse practitioner, educator, sister, friend, and realist describes me to the letter. I love to empower others through knowledge, music, laughter, and inspiration. A few of my hobbies include joking, laughing, writing, singing, playing cards, traveling, listening to music, and spending quality time with my family. As a southern African American woman, I value my faith, history, and time. I enjoy watching my favorite movies and watching reruns of The Golden Girls, Law and Order, Criminal Minds, American Dad, and Family Guy. A few of my favorite classics include Coming to America, The Color Purple, and The Wiz. Life is too serious not to laugh, so I embrace the enthusiasm in every situation.

After awaiting the perfect time to launch this blog, I decided to publish it now. I created The Realist Outlaw Speaks after reflecting on my character and the purpose behind writing this blog. Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I wrote poems, short stories, books, and scripts for plays. I used my imagination to escape from my troubles and vacation away to my dream destinations. In my dreams, I was supported by people who believed in me. Besides, I was a lonely young girl who longed for someone to listen to my dreams, protect, and believe in me. Writing gave me the strength to overcome depression, and it became my joy when smiling seemed impossible.
I've learned how to continue dreaming despite the nightmare. After surviving blows in life, the COVID-19 pandemic, and witnessing universal chaos, I prepared myself to return to writing. Besides, there's no better crowd than a crowd that awaits a comeback. Grammar, punctuation, and citation errors will not deter me from speaking my unapologetic truth. I never imagined that I would write about social injustice, religious discrimination, women's rights, and biases against sexual orientation and gender identification. Furthermore, I never imagined that I would be interested in blogging about my southern roots.

I'm excited to share my wisdom on this mental wellness journey. When you are motivated by positivity, you make better decisions. Therefore, I'm sending irie vibes with each post. I welcome you to leave positive comments when you read posts that you enjoy. Quality conversations and a listening ear are priceless. This blog will ignite your passion as it has reignited my passion for writing. If I see an elephant in the room, I'm going to blog about it. My period of silence is over, so let's talk!

Irrepressible, that's me!
